Sometimes we fall short because we lack confidence to use our skills, or curiosity to develop new ones. This journal uses a mix of discipline and play to find these qualities in yourself.

Description

In his search for the lost city of Atlantis, Jacques-Yves Cous- teau was ever the optimist. “Of course we will be success- ful,” he said. “Even if you don’t find what you are looking for, the search is always worth the effort. Nature is so over- whelming that you always find something that is worth- while” (The San Bernardino County Sun, 1975).

The first journal in this series, The Serenity & Courage Journal, was inspired by the Serenity Prayer. The prayer is powerful, but it does not go far enough for me. It is a prayer of acceptance and determination, but not a prayer of play- ing and seeking. I like to acknowledge that I have skills and enjoy using them. I like looking forward to discovering something new every day, just by being alive. I am grateful for both my confidence and my curiosity, which is why I created the second journal in this series.

Sometimes we fall short, not because we lack skills, but because we lack the confidence to use them. Other times we lack the skills, but don’t seek them out. Confidence means using the skills we already have. Curiosity means seeking out new skills.

Take a moment each day to reinforce your awareness of your own skills. Take another moment to encourage your desire to explore. This workbook provides space for both. I hope you find it as uplifting as I do.

You, too, are worth the effort. Your search will succeed.
